Tongrentang has set up a specific department to be in charge of inner-inspection and supervision and has gradually formulated a strong and extensive system that oversees all aspects of the company’s operation by various means.
Promoting High-Quality Development
In 2019, Tongrentang invited a world-renowned third-party organization for high-quality development strategy consultation. A “three-step” strategy was proposed to build a new development pattern for Tongrentang. Accordingly it formulated its 14th five-year plan (2021-2025) and a three-year reform plan.
Tongrentang combines strict supervision with excellent services. To achieve this end, it has established a committee responsible for brand protection and risk prevention and control in the board of directors. Tongrentang carries out the “Quality Management Improvement Year” special action, insisting on the realization of “zero flaw” products. It has improved the quality management system that covers the whole process of medicinal planting, raw material procurement, processing, drug manufacturing, marketing, medical care services, and technology research and development.
In addition to this, Tongrentang increased its investment in scientific research that focuses more on the treatment of key diseases. It selected a number of key products to be included in its research plan during the 14th Five-Year Plan period. It also concentrated its advantages to create competitive products with high market awareness.
Fulfilling Responsibility
Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, Tongrentang has selected 80 types of medicine (such as Angong Niuhuang Pill and Banlangen Granules) and nine immune-boosting health products (such as Ganoderma Lucidum Spore) to help combat the disease. It increased the production of related drugs and restarted the production of an old product called Shiyi Qingwen Pill, which treats flu-like symptoms. Tongrentang has made every effort to ensure the supply of products and materials for epidemic prevention and control. The medical services it offers consist of providing people with TCM diagnosis and treatment. Its retail terminals and pharmacies often organize various health lectures, free consultation, and other health activities.
Tongrentang has provided a series of prescriptions suitable for local epidemic situations in 50 countries and regions throughout the world. It has also donated pharmaceutical drugs and materials valuing RMB 40 million to fight the pandemic at home and abroad.
Tongrentang has been acknowledged as a great contributor in Beijing’s response to COVID-19, was honored with the contribution award by China Health Ecology Organization, and was named in letters of thanks from foreign embassies and consulates for its professional medical services and products.
