The World Robot Conference 2022 kicked off at the Etrong International Exhibition & Convention Center on August 18 in Beijing. Intelligent manufacturing became a major topic of the Conference. On August 19, the Global Top 100 Smart Manufacturing Companies 2022 Ranking Program was launched at the “Intelligent Manufacturing for Future” International Summit, garnering great attention from the industry.

The distinguished guests of the summit hosted by China IT.com included Ambassador of Sri Lanka to China Palitha T. B. During the summit, ChinaIT.com, China Today Magazine, Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, IncoPat Global Patent Database, and other partners officially initiated China's first ranking program for the intelligent manufacturing industry – the Global Top 100 Smart Manufacturing Companies. Keeping up with the latest technological innovations in the industry, the program aims to enhance the global market awareness of intelligent manufacturing enterprises, support innovation, entrepreneurship and academic research, analyze data related to enterprises’ life-cycle, promote communication, and foster close cooperation among industry, academia, and research.
In the era of smart technology, robotics, IoT, 5G, AI, cloud technologies, and vision systems have dramatically changed traditional business patterns and models as well as production and operations of the manufacturing industry. The COVID-19 pandemic has further accelerated the adoption of new technologies in intelligent manufacturing. A recent survey shows that the operating profit of the intelligent manufacturing industry will reach more than US $200 billion in 2026. With China’s perspective and global vision, the Global Top 100 Smart Manufacturing Companies Ranking Program will dive into the latest technological advances and applications in the intelligent manufacturing industry, present useful strategies for traditional enterprises facing severe challenges, facilitate the global reach of intelligent manufacturing enterprises, and serve as a decision-making reference for research institutes, enterprises, and government agencies.

Palitha T. B. Kohona, ambassador of Sri Lanka to China, addressed the summit with a video speech, noting that one of Sri Lanka's important national policies is to build a technology-oriented society. At the same time, as the southern hub of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, Sri Lanka will play the role of regional digital connectivity and digital development enabler, and work with international partners including China to steadily promote digital development, Kohona said.

Ghulam Qadir, commercial counselor of the Embassy of Pakistan in China, said that the forum brought together the industry’s elites to discuss the development of intelligent manufacturing. Pakistan's electronics, technology, and smart manufacturing industries are also booming and new forces are emerging. He indicated that Pakistan would continue to urge its talents in relevant fields to pay attention to global trends and actively engage in exchanges and cooperation with other countries.

As the U.K.'s national business and trade network, CBBC aims to support and promote bilateral trade and economic and technical cooperation between China and the U.K. Kiran Patel, senior director of CBBC said that China is the world's fastest growing and most dynamic market for emerging digital technologies and an important partner for the U.K. China is leading the world in next-generation technologies such as robotics, 5G, the Internet of Things, smart manufacturing, autonomous electric vehicles, and the blockchain. He hoped that China and the U.K. would further deepen win-win cooperation in intelligent manufacturing and other fields.

The working committee of the Global Top 100 Smart Manufacturing Companies Ranking Program is comprised of independent experts from the media, industry alliances, investment institutions, universities, and research institutes from major countries of intelligent manufacturing. The ranking results will be released in January 2023.
