The Minjiang River

The Minjiang River is the largest river in Fujian Province, flowing through Fuzhou into the East China Sea. Natural scenery and cultural attractions are reflected along the way and have helped build the tourism industry in the region. In addition, there is also a night tour on the river, starting from the Taijiang Ferry Terminal on Wuyi South Road, passing through scenic spots such as the Taijiang Golden Bund, and the north and south riversides, and taking about one hour. As night falls, the bright and colorful lanterns begin to illuminate. Tourists can enjoy beautiful scenery along the Minjiang River, looking like a big colorful rainbow.

Transportation: take bus No. 1, 10, or 13 to the pedestrian street of Taijiang.

Mindu Folklore Park

Mindu Folklore Park is located in the new district of Minhou County, Fuzhou City. It is an open theme park that presents the ancient farming culture of Fuzhou. The main part of the park contains three parts, namely daily life, production, and culture and education. It not only brings together local customs and practices in Fuzhou, but also displays local folk culture from ancient times to the present. The buildings in the park are based on the residential buildings from the Ming and Qing dynasties, and the corresponding production and living arrangements are made according to the characteristics of the farmhouses. Two ancient buildings with local features, the Yongfeng Minyuewang Temple and the Qingkou Guishan Pavilion were rebuilt to restore the most authentic ancient style.

Transportation: Take bus No. 38 to Minhou County Hospital Station, and then walk 1 km.

Zhongting Street

Located on the bank of the Minjiang River in Taijiang District, the street has been a market since the Song Dynasty and is the birthplace of Fuzhou’s commerce and trade. It was originally just unused land formed by the long-term sedimentation of the Minjiang River. A booth was built there for shelter and gradually developed into a bazaar. Zhongting Street, south of the Jiefang Bridge intersection, north to Xiaoqiaotou, is now the most bustling commercial street in Fuzhou.

Transportation: Take bus No.105, 10 or 12 to Zhongting Street Station.

China Shipyard Culture Museum

The China Shipyard Culture Museum is located in the foothills of Maxian Mountain in Fuzhou. It is built on the mountain and is a five-story building with a modern architectural style. The front is designed to look like two battleships braving the wind and waves. The museum is China’s first museum with the theme of ship administration. The museum houses a large number of precious cultural relics, pictures, and models. It consists of an exhibition hall, an education hall, an industrial hall, and a naval base hall. Modern digital technologies were used to demonstrate the fruitful results achieved by China’s ship administration in modern China’s advanced science and technology, new education, industrial manufacturing, and Western classical cultural translation.

Transportation: Take bus No. 73, 116, 131, 139 to the Mawei District Committee Station.

Zhaozhong Memorial Temple

Also known as the Majiang Sea Battle Museum, the temple was built in honor of the martyrs who died in the Sea Battle of Majiang. Located in the eastern foothills of Maxian Mountain, it is adjacent to the Shipyard Museum. The martyr cemetery on the west side of the memorial hall is home to nearly 800 officers and men who died for their country. The ancient fort on the peak is now a historical site.
