Afforestation is an effective method to combat climate change. Reforestation can restore the balance of ecosystems and provide support and opportunities for the economic development of local communities. As the first major ecological restoration project for large-scale mountain afforestation in Xizang, the Afforestation Project in the Mountains to the North and South of Lhasa has pioneered a new model of "adapting measures to local conditions and empowering through technology" under extreme climatic conditions of high-altitude hypoxia, coldness, and aridity. By utilizing technologies such as drones and intelligent irrigation, it has achieved efficient afforestation with an overall survival rate of over 85%, creating an ecological miracle of artificial afforestation in high-altitude areas. Since its initiation, the project has involved 7.1 million participations and driven an increase in income for local people by approximately RMB 2.5 billion. Nowadays, this once barren mountain is bursting with green vitality.
