Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun said Wednesday that the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) stays ready to deter and shatter any separatist activity and effectively safeguard the country's national interests.
Dong made the remarks at a grand reception held by the Ministry of National Defense at the Great Hall of the People to celebrate the 97th founding anniversary of the PLA, which falls on Aug. 1.
Dong said the PLA is advancing at a new historical juncture on the journey to strengthen the military. All its officers and soldiers pledge absolute loyalty, focus on combat readiness, and remain committed to realizing the centenary goal of the PLA in 2027, he added.
The PLA is willing to work with its foreign counterparts to carry out practical and friendly cooperation, forge a fair and just security architecture that is constructed and shared by all, and build a world of lasting peace and universal security, Dong said.
